Course overview

Build the knowledge and practical skills required to inspect protective coatings and corrosion protection work with confidence. 

This course covers coating systems, corrosion causes and prevention, surface preparation, inspection methods, standards, specifications, reporting, HSE, and the inspector’s role. It combines self-paced online learning, live trainer-led webinars, classroom practice, and final examination. 

The course follows the FROSIO curriculum defined by the FROSIO Council. After passing the exam, candidates receive a FROSIO Surface Treatment Inspector certificate at the level that matches their documented experience.

Course Structure and Learning Format

Learn online, at your own pace 

The online platform includes videos, animations, quizzes, progress tracking, and instructor guidance. You can study wherever you are, revisit lessons when needed, and use the AI learning assistant to review topics or quiz yourself. 

Duration: 40–50 hours of self-study. 

Practice before the final exam 

The mock exam helps you check your readiness before the official FROSIO exam. Full-course students receive instructor-graded open-ended mock exams with up to three attempts, each using a different question set. 

Live webinars and support 

Join trainer-led webinars covering key FROSIO learning goals. Ask questions, review difficult topics, and learn alongside other candidates. 

You’ll also get access to a WhatsApp support group for practical examples, reminders, short quizzes, and peer support. 

Classroom training 

Learn directly from experienced industry professionals through theory sessions, case studies, hands-on practice, and inspection exercises. 

Students rotate through 15 practical stations covering corrosion, surface preparation, microclimate checks, DFT measurement, Bresle testing, holiday detection, pull-off testing, reporting, and more. 

Duration: 3–6 classroom training days plus the FROSIO exam day. 

FROSIO exam 

The exam includes one theoretical and one practical part, each lasting four hours. Candidates must pass both parts to meet the certification requirement.
